On behalf of several of the world’s leading environmental and development organisations, we invite you to attend Forest Day 3, on Sunday, 13 December 2009, in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Forest Day 3 will take place alongside the 15^th Conference of the Parties of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).  It will be hosted by the Collaborative Partnership on Forests, the Government of Denmark and CIFOR.

Registration will open in mid-June and we will let you know via email when it does. In the meantime, we need your help to identify 8 key topics for Forest Day 3 learning events.

Forest Day 3 builds on a series of influential events. Forest Day 1 in Bali in 2007 helped inform the inclusion of forests in the Bali Action Plan. Almost 1000 participants attended Forest Day 2 in Poznań. There, key stakeholders agreed on the urgency of including forests in the global climate protection regime, and the importance of managing forests for livelihoods, biodiversity, and other benefits as well as carbon storage. At Forest Day 3 we are directing our energies towards ensuring that the design and implementation of forest-related climate mitigation and adaptation measures are effective, efficient and equitable.

We are currently designing the programme for the day and would like to hear your ideas on the issues related to forests and climate change you would like to discuss at the Forest Day learning events.   Click here to fill out a survey form and send us your ideas.
