| Africa, the second largest continent of the world consists of one-fifth of total Earths’ landmass. The continent is a rich reservoir of many precious stones, natural minerals and metals, flora and fauna. Some of the rarest wildlife is found in the continent, which has long become extinct elsewhere. The continent has witnessed a steady increase in its human population recently. During the last hundred years, the population of sub-Saharan Africa increased six folds. The continent’s human population is projected to double in 24 years. The increasing population has put pressures on the natural resources resulting in decreasing wildlife and wild lands. Two thirds of African population reside in rural areas and survive on raising crops and livestock on any available land. The other set of problems that have surfaced in the continent are concerning health, education and infrastructure. |
