| The 6th Study Conference on BALTEX will reflect the interdisciplinary nature of the BALTEX programme. Conference topics are aligned along the revised BALTEX Phase II objectives: Improved understanding of energy and water cycles under changing conditions. This involves the development and assessment of regional models, and the improvement of observations. Analysis of past climate variability and change, and provision of regional climate projections over the Baltic Sea basin for the 21st century. This involves detection and attribution studies as well as assessments of past, current and future climate change including its impacts on the environment. Provision of improved tools for water management, with an emphasis on extreme hydrological events and long-term changes. This includes the assessment of water resources in today’s and future climate, as well as forcasting extreme events and their impacts on the environment and infrastructure. Biogeochemical cycles in the Baltic Sea basin and transport processes within the regional Earth system under anthropogenic influence. This involves the coupling of regional climate models with biogeochemical models to estimate the impact of climate change on matter fluxes. |
