SuperGeo Support Historical and Cultural Research with GIS

Sponsored by Taiwan Ministry of Education, National Changhua University of Education recently held a workshop (http://ncuehistory-workshop.blogspot.com/) that applies geographic information system (GIS) to cultural and historical studies. Teachers from high schools all over Taiwan were invited.
Been devoted to GIS promotion and education for years, SuperGeo offered numerous sets of SuperGIS software and CCTS Analyst (Chinese Civilization in Time and Space) to support the workshop. CCTS Analyst provides users with historical maps for Mainland China and Taiwan ranging over 2000 years, starting from Qin Dynasty (221 BC – 207 BC).
Since the participants were the faculties of high schools, those teachers who learned the GIS applications to Chinese history and culture can then pass down the knowledge to more students, the future users and researchers in the domain of GIS.
‘We appreciated the efforts of SuperGeo very much.’ said Dr. Gu, Assistant Professor of Graduate Institute of History at the University. ‘SuperGeo not only provided SuperGIS software as well as CCTS Analyst for teachers to learn how to combine GIS with the research in culture and history, but also published related studies in TGIS Journal distributed all over the nation. This will greatly benefit the research and teaching in our field, and also the promotion of GIS.’
