INTERGEO East 2010 - International Industry Forum on the Bosphorus
- Details
- Created on January 22, 2010
The conference trade fair will give the industry real impetus for the future of the region. "The experts attending INTERGEO East regularly discuss the structure of land management in the region and look for common ground," states Olaf Freier, CEO of HINTE Messe GmbH in Karlsruhe (Germany), which is organising the event. "Secondly, there will be an overview of the latest technologies and developments in data capture and geoinformation systems. And thirdly, exhibitors and visitors at INTERGEO East create a unique, international communication network by sharing know-how and innovations throughout the year, not just during the event," he adds.
Vibrant market
The event planned for January 2009 had to be postponed as a result of the economic crisis, so in 2010 supply will meet demand in Istanbul. Top priorities for Turkey are strengthening the region's economy and standardising its structures, not least with an eye to the negotiations on Turkey joining the European Union. With annual growth rates averaging seven percent, Turkey is receiving the equivalent of billions of pounds of investment from foreign companies, including a large amount from Germany.
High-level knowledge transfer
The 2010 INTERGEO East conference starting on 19 May brings a whole new dimension into play. The ISPRS (International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing) will be complementing the national and regional items on the conference agenda with international subject areas. The 300-400 participants expected from the worlds of business, science and public administration, and the high-calibre speakers will benefit from effective cross-border dialogue. Many of the lectures and plenary sessions will be simultaneously translated from Turkish to English and vice versa.
The trade fair, which runs from 20 to 21 May, will be attended by leading international exhibitors with innovations covering everything from gathering and processing geo-based information to systems-integrated applications. A new draw at the trade fair will be the Trend and Media Forum. This interactive communication platform integrates specialist media, presentations by exhibitors, debates and INTERGEO TV at a busy location in the exhibition centre.
INTERGEO East's partners for the coming year are the Istanbul Technical University Faculty of Civil Engineering headed by Congress Director Assoc. Prof. Rahmi Nuran CELIK, the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) and the German-Turkish Chamber of Industry and Commerce. The event is also being supported by the Republic of Serbia - Republic Geodetic Authority (RGA), the Serbian Chamber of Engineers, the German Agency for Technical Cooperation (gtz), the Association for Geospatial Information in South-East Europe (AGISEE), the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) and the German Association of Surveying (DVW) as licensors of INTERGEO East.
The redesigned and extended INTERGEO East website also went live to coincide with the run-up to the event. Detailed, up-to-date information and services for exhibitors and visitors, including how to get to the venue and accommodation options, the conference and forum programme and an online booking facility for the conference can be found at: www.intergeo-east.com
