ARC Advisory Group Report: Esri a Leading GIS Provider in Utilities Sector

"Esri is the clear market share leader in the worldwide GIS market, and the company's reach extends into the utilities sector, where it is a leading provider in the oil and gas distribution, electric power, and water and wastewater industries," said Clint Reiser, analyst, Enterprise Applications, ARC Advisory Group.

ARC Advisory Group estimates Esri's worldwide market share at 40.7 percent in its 2010 report, Geospatial Information Systems Worldwide Outlook. The report affirms that Esri is the GIS market leader in both the water/wastewater and the oil and gas distribution industries. The report also shows Esri and Esri partner Telvent as market leaders in the electric transmission and distribution industries.

"Esri focuses on building core GIS technology that can meet the needs of utilities," said Bill Meehan, Esri director of utility solutions. "We also work with dozens of partners that provide vertical applications such as asset management, network planning, network design, and outage management."
