Funded by state and county agencies, this project is a key component of the Kansas Geographic Information System Partnership initiative which aims at developing a robust geospatial infrastructure to enhance the safety, economy, environment and quality of life in Kansas.
This project augments AeroMetric’s extensive state mapping experience, which includes major recent projects in Alaska, Minnesota, North Carolina, Wisconsin and Illinois. AeroMetric will leverage its production capabilities in the midwest as well as its state-of-the-art Leica ALS70 LiDAR sensor.
“We are excited to be selected by the State of Kansas to support their statewide LiDAR program. This assignment ties into AeroMetric’s strategic direction to provide large regional mapping services to government agencies. Our nationwide presence, and on-going acquisition of top flight personnel and equipment is testament to this commitment,” said Greg Tilley, Vice President of Business Development at AeroMetric.
“As a state government institution we have to consider consultants on the basis of price because it is our mandate to save money, while still meeting the needs of each project. However, there was more to this selection than price because this is a large and complex project. What we liked about AeroMetric was the fact that they are very experienced, giving us confidence that they have the resources, capability and expertise to meet all of our needs in performing this project,” said Ivan Weichert, Director of the Kansas GIS, Office of Information Technology Services.
