AGI GeoCommunity '08 Programme Announced
- Details
- Created on June 11, 2008
The quality of this year's papers was outstanding with a wider range of submissions than we have seen previously. The conference team has selected a program of almost 50 sessions across 5 streams which we expect to be stimulating, educational and entertaining. We have responded to feedback from last year by adding more workshops and hands on training sessions and we will also be hosting a special stream and panel discussion on INSPIRE. We are fortunate to have keynote presentations from Vanessa Lawrence, Director General of the Ordnance Survey, Sean Phelan, founder of Multimap, Charlie Pattinson, Head of Resources and Information Management, Environment Agency and Charles Kenelly, CTO, ESRI (UK) and the conference will close with another Big Debate on 'GI going Mainstream - an Own Goal?'
All in all I am confident that we have an even better program for this year's conference. I look forward to welcoming delegates to Stratford in September', said Steven Feldman, AGI GeoCommunity '08 Conference Chairman.
Delegates have been registering at rates ahead of last year's very successful conference which sold out before it opened. Early bird places are limited and we encourage early booking to guarantee a place.
About AGI GeoCommunity '08
AGI GeoCommunity '08 will be a residential conference designed to bring together practitioners, academics, policy makers and suppliers with thought leaders from the UK and overseas.
The conference will provide an opportunity for its participants to learn from their peers, train and debate policy and technology issues, plus build relationships through networking. The theme of the conference will be 'Shaping a Changing World'.
The conference will run from 24 to 25 September 2008 in Stratford-upon-Avon. In the evening of the 23 September, a pre-conference 'icebreaker' event will also be run at the same venue for early arrivals. As in 2007 highly attractive delegate rates, including all accommodation and meals, should attract a larger than ever attendance from across the public and private sectors. On the night of the first day of the conference, delegates will enjoy a party buffet dinner and entertainment, plus a range of competitions and activities.
Conference sponsors currently include: ESRI (UK) Ltd, Ordnance Survey, Autodesk, Microsoft, British Geological Survey, Cadcorp, Capita Symonds, Dotted Eyes, Generic Software Consultants, GeoInformation Group, GGP Systems, Infoterra, Innogistic, Limehouse Software, Sigma Seven, Snowflake Software, STAR-APIC, NAVTEQ, Oracle and Informed Solutions.
