ONUMA to Accept the COBIE Challenge

Construction-Operations Building Information Exchange (COBIE) is an open-standard format for the exchange of the equipment lists, replacement parts, warranties, test reports, preventative maintenance schedules and other information currently delivered to facility managers. The COBIE Challenge a project of the buildingSMART alliance, has invited ONUMA, Inc. and other vendors to demonstrate live in front of an audience how their tools support COBIE.

The ONUMA Planning System (OPS) supports COBIE input and output by allowing stakeholders to view and analyze data directly on the web and through web services. OPS manages COBIE data on the fly, allowing for real time collaboration on projects. OPS is also linked through open standards exchanges to Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) allowing for data to be geospatially located within a building. OPS exports and imports COBIE data through XML and through web-services. The OPS interface is simple and accessible to many levels of users without the need to install software.

OPS will expand on the previous COBIE output capability to import COBIE files in native Excel format with multiple tabs. The result inside OPS is a BIM populated with COBIE data that can be further edited and exported back to COBIE or other BIM and GIS applications. OPS is currently being used to manage the life-cycle data of commercial and institutional projects with COBIE standards.
