Transportation for the Nation Strategic Plan Released

The final Strategic Plan for Transportation for the Nation (TFTN) has been released (PDF). NSGIC commends the U.S. Department of Transportation for their leadership in this effort and for their willingness to include the effected stakeholder community in the planning effort. TFTN was originally proposed by NSGIC to help eliminate the obvious duplication of effort and wasted funds that result from the many single-purpose programs that exist. The authors of the Plan lay out a vision and goals for doing this, and they conclude that "With a proper focus on coordination and collaboration a program such as TFTN can generate nationwide transportation data that meets both USDOT's internal business needs and the broader requirements of other stakeholders across the country."
