Latin America Geospatial Forum 2012: Bringing Geospatial Knowledge at the Heart of Sustainable Development

The Forum would be a Congregation for thought and discussion between experts from various fields like Environment, Land Administration, Energy, Mining and Exploration, Disaster Management and Governance with Geospatial specialists striving to make the development a sustainable one. It aims to bring the geospatial community into limelight with regards to mainstream development organizations. With the theme Actionable Knowledge for Sustainable Development the conference will focus on an integrated approach to sustainability that can create tangible benefits economically socially and environmentally. The forum will highlight the usage of geospatial technology in processes, organization and design, system regulation, and continuous learning approaches in complex organizational and multi-organizational systems that enabled simultaneous focus on and advancing of economic, social, and ecological outcomes. Geospatial technologies, because of their geospatial information dependent nature, provide the only way to look at these issues from a holistic viewpoint.

Many experts from different backgrounds and focus areas will present their views and opinions on how geospatial technologies are being used or have the potential for sustainable development. The technical agenda of the conference will include a host of other activities from Panel Discussions, Symposiums, Seminars, Workshops, and Technical Sessions to cover the various aspects of geospatial technology and its usage. The forum will also host an exhibition alongside where companies dealing with geospatial technologies will showcase the state-of-the-art equipments, software/hardware demos and the user segments will display the innovative usage they have put the technology to.
