The conference called "GasStores: Key Instrument for the New Gas Market" (February 10, 2009) will provide information about the altered outline conditions and developments not only on the side of the gas market but also with regard to the network access and will indicate the possibilities offered from the viewpoint of gas stores.

The "Trurnit Forum on Communication in the Energy Industry" (February 10, 2009) will show what contribution marketing and communication can make to the success of utility companies. Energy supply and climate protection are becoming a megasubject. Intelligent energy management and new services are opening up new scope for turnover.

Steffen Sacharowitz, Project Manager at the Energy Brainpool consultancy company, will investigate future scenarios with the speakers in the "CO2 Emissions Markets" conference (February 10, 2009). These will incorporate the status of the Kyoto Protocol as well as the procurement of an emissions certificate and the course of the emissions trading until now. The effects of the economic crisis will be dealt with too.

Options for companies will be discussed in the conference entitled "Possibilities of the Joint Implementation / Clean Development Mechanism in the 2nd and 3rd Trading Periods" (February 11, 2009). The speakers will include Franzjosef Schafhausen, Assistant Director from the Federal Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation and Reactor Safety.

Was the network regulation the start of a new era? The conference called "Distribution Networks - Year 1 After the Incentive Regulation" (February 11, 2009) will revolve around this question. Professor Dr. Gert Brunekreeft, Director of Bremer Energie Institut (the "Bremen Energy Institute") and Professor for Energy Economy at the Jacobs University Bremen, will present the investment made under the regulation. Dr. Erik Landeck, Managing Director of Vattenfall Europe Distribution GmbH, will explain the strategic implications of the incentive regulation and how a network operator can make preparations suitable for the future. Other speakers will dedicate themselves to the EU regulation, the cost pressure on technical network service providers and the risk-oriented asset management.

High-ranking speakers will investigate the field of "Energy and Mobility" (February 11, 2009). Ulrich Kasparick, Parliamentary Undersecretary of State in the Federal Ministry of Transport, Construction and Urban Development, will explain the strategy of the Federal Government. Dr. Leonhard Birnbaum, Member of the Board of RWE AG, will attend to the future chances of the energy industry. The conference called "Renewable Energies - Incorporation of Wind Energy into the Electricity Supply" (February 11, 2009) will deal with the development and future of wind energy, with the possibilities of incorporating it into the electricity supply, with the construction of offshore wind parks as well as with the investments of E.ON in renewable energies. Using the USA as an example, Jussi Heikkinen, Business Development Director of the Finnish company Wärtsilä Finland Oy, will explain the effects of the growth of wind energy on the normal energy market.

The "Power Stations" conference (February 11, 2009) will take up topical subjects in the power station sector. Franzjosef Schafhausen, AssistantDirectorfromtheFederal Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation and Reactor Safety, will examine electricity generation and climate protection. Dr. Dietmar Lindenberger, Managing Director of the Energy Management Institute atthe University of Cologne, will then explain nuclear energy policy. The other subjects will include power station technology between CCS and efficiency, municipal utility companies with shareholdings in power stations and virtual power stations.

With Verband für Wärmelieferung (the "Association for Heat Supply") and ESCO-Forum im ZVEI (the "ESCO Forum in the Central Association of the Electrotechnology Industry") as the patrons, the Moritz Pikl Winterlich RAe/StB/WP law office from Northeim is organising the two-day event entitled "Energy Services as a Future Market" about the field of "Contracting" . Reference will be made to legal and fiscal subjects on the first day (February 11, 2009). The speakers will analyse the present and future waves of European and national legislation and will discuss the outline conditions for new business, e.g. the growing-together of supply and savings contracting - a business model which is being demanded time and again from the political side in particular. The fiscal field will concentrate on questions relating to the taxes on electricity and energy. Finally, the following question will be asked under the headword of "The Controversial Subject": "Safeguarding Ownership in Contracting - All Questions Clarified?!" The second day of the event (February 12, 2009) will be devoted to sales-related and technical questions and will take up, in particular, the sales-related aspects of present and future business models. After an overview of the current market development, the essential subfields of the business development of contracting companies will be dealt with in two blocks: on the one hand, the utilisation of renewable energies and, on the other hand, the improvement in the energy efficiency. The days can be booked separately.

The conference called "Current Developments in Portfolio and Risk Management" (February 12, 2009) will explain the new challenges for the portfolio and risk management of energy companies. In addition to the reflection based on practice, contributions from the scientific field will also be in demand here with new approaches for risk measurement and portfolio control.

The Renewable Energies Act 2009 will entail amended outline conditions for renewable energies. The conference entitled "Electricity from Renewable Energies in Competition" (February 12, 2009) will report not only on initial experience with the new direct marketing but also on the possibilities of the transformation from exchange electricity into REA electricity, the effect of an altered rolling mechanism and peculiarities with regard to the direct marketing of wind electricity.

Municipal utility companies are losing customers in the dynamic mass customer market. These losses can hardly be compensated for in the core business within the accustomed sales territory and many suppliers are therefore expanding into regions outside their territory until now. The conference called "External Mass Customer Sales in Order to Safeguard Market Shares" (February 12, 2009) will give the participants an up-to-date overview of the developments in the mass customer market and will present strategies for defending their home markets.
