“We’ve been using Capturx for two years and we’re looking forward to the addition of Capturx Mobile. From wildfires to the latest damage caused by last week’s heavy rains, we can now use Capturx to help us manage data about fast changing situations,” said Captain Michael Hoose, 15-year veteran of the Santa Barbara City Fire Department. “With the new Capturx Mobile capabilities, we can instantly collect and share immediate updates from any type of emergency situation which makes it safer for everyone.”
Capturx Mobile: How It Works
Capturx Mobile supports the entire Capturx product line and is an add-on to Capturx Forms for Excel, Capturx for OneNote, Capturx for ArcGIS, and Capturx for SharePoint. Handwritten data can be sent from mobile devices through email or directly uploaded into SharePoint Server. In both scenarios, teams simply pair their Blackberry or Windows Mobile device with the Capturx digital pen. Data sent through email is instantly integrated into Microsoft Office or ArcGIS once the recipient opens the email message and attached file. With Capturx for SharePoint Server, Capturx Mobile automatically aggregates data from multiple field workers into central servers for immediate data access, workflow, and archiving.
Utility teams in the field, for example, can instantly document inspections and service records for pipelines or transmission lines. Teams simply fill out paper forms or update asset data on paper maps using field-ready digital pens. Copies of the forms and GIS updates are instantly sent through cell phones to central offices, where they are automatically integrated into ArcGIS or Microsoft Office. Central teams get immediate visibility to field conditions without requiring field teams to deploy mobile computers or custom applications. With instant copies of the original handwriting, teams dramatically reduce the compliance risks of missing documents. With the converted digital data, they can also easily trigger workflows or integrate data into other back-end field service and asset management systems.
