Legislation to improve the accuracy of broadband reporting in the United States goes to President Bush for signature. In the past the FCC has only had to report subscribers by Zip Code, counting a whole area as covered by broadband if it has at least one subscriber. The new measure adds census track reporting for a much more accurate reflection of coverage. The measure also includes a $40 million matching grant program for public-private partnerships working on broadband deployment projects.
