The Esri Forestry Group is circulating a mapping survey for feedback that will inform the technical team toward the creation of freely accessible ArcGIS templates that support multiple forest management requirements. The templates will include associated geodatabase schemas, an editing toolbar, high quality cartography templates, geoprocessing scripts, ArcMap add-ins, an executive dashboard, and mobile applications.
This open templated approach builds on the many new tools and data sources that have been made available recently by Esri, including the ArcGIS.com effort. This facilitated interaction between forestry users is likely meant to prime the pump for more spirited and application-oriented exchanges among this group.
