The first half-meter color image from the GeoEye-1 satellite was released today. Since its launch on Sept. 6, the GeoEye-1 satellite has been undergoing calibration. The first image is of Kutztown University in Kutztown, Pennsylvania, and was taken on Oct. 7, 2008 at 12:00 p.m. EDT. It’s the first image to hit the sensor when the imager was activated, and the company is confident that later images will improve as the sensor is further tested and calibrated.
