Geospatial Transition Team

by Matt Ball on July 31, 2008

There’s an excellent overview of the action items for the National Geospatial Advisory Committee (NGAC) in the Summer issue of ArcNews that is written by Anne Hale Miglarese, chairperson and principal with Booz Allen Hamilton. This cover story details the ambitious agenda for the group, with details on the policies that they hope to influence.

One of the more pressing action items for the group is to engage the incoming administration in November. The idea is to present a detailed geospatial white paper to the transition team that outlines the importance of the technology and the need for centralized policy. The committee is working now to draft a simple and easy to read paper with details on the federal agencies that influence geospatial policy and with case studies on how the technology is used in the federal sector. The plan is to have the report ready at the next NGAC meeting in October for delivery to transition team of the next American president.
