Jose Achache, director of the Group on Earth Observations, indicated that Google will be teaming with the group on a project to monitor forests to fight global warming as reported by Reuters. The idea is a system to make annual assessments of forest carbon stocks via Google Earth, to offer assurances and validation for carbon cap and trade schemes.
