Heat Waves Are Most Deadly Natural Disaster

The “death map” compiled by researchers at the University of Sourth Carolina examines the mortality from natural hazards at a county-level for the U.S. from 1970 to 2004. The systematic research shows that heat waves are the most deadly natural disaster that Americans face, and the impact is likely to increase with global warming. The study appeared in the latest issue of International Journal of Health Geographics.
