The Idea Lab has a good story and link to video about how news coverage colors how we see the world. The video by Aliza Miller, the president and CEO of Public Radio International, shows many maps using a cartogram to illustrate how much of the standard mainstream media content relates to worldwide news.
It’s a telling illustration of how we must each search and explore in order to gain an expanded world view. The Internet provides some good exposure to outside perspectives, but it’s also colored by mass-media preferences. Take a look at the video, and see if you agree with this assessment.
