Jet Propulsion Lab Partners with Los Angeles

NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab has partnered with the City of Los Angeles to repurpose the lab’s technology to help the city save water and energy. The lab is investigating the use of satellite imaging technology to predict the snow pack in the Sierras up to a year in advance in order to better forecast the city’s water resources. The lab is also using satellite images to assess roof that are suitable for solar energy in order to meet a pledge to wean themselves off of coal.
