Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar has today appointed 15 individuals to serve as members of the National Geospatial Advisory Committee (NGAC). This group totals 28 members from a diverse background of industry, academia and government. These members meet four times per year to recommend directions in federal geospatial policy and management issues for the development of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI). Of the 15 names just released, there are five that have been reappointed or two-year terms.
This group has been well organized and vocal in the past in framing issues for consideration. The first meeting of the group took place in April, 2008, and four key documents have been released, including an important overview of, “The Changing Geospatial Landscape.”
The next meeting is planned for March 17-18, 2011 at the American Institute of Architects Building in Washington, DC. These meetings are open to the public, but advance registration is required.
Visit the NGAC website for full details about the committee, including the full list of its 28 members, and their key documents.
