Mapping the History of Green Technology in America

Alexis Madrigal of the Inventing Green blog is undertaking an interesting project to compile the history of green technologies in America, and to map these on a Google Maps mashup called the Green Tech Map. While the effort is just getting underway, Madrigal is hard at work on a book about this history of green technology innovation that’s in addition to his work as a Wired.com staff writer on energy and science.

This blog has a number of interesting posts regarding the history of green technology innovation. Another post on Sunday correlates the price of oil with green technology innovation, drawing links between world events and the price of crude oil. While current oil prices aren’t encouraging innovation, it’s a strong-held hope among many that we’ll escape this historical cycle and start innovating despite the current economic climate for better long-term prospects.

Thanks for the link, guys! I just wanted to point out to your readers that I’m putting a lot of effort right now into building out a green tech timeline and reading list. I’m hoping they will evolve into one-of-a-kind and open resources.
