Russia has recently launched an earth observation imagery Geoportal Space Agency to provide access to geospatial information and remote sensing data. Users have access to recent data collected by several Russian and foreign satellites, and the database can be extended by Russian remote sensing companies. The plan is to provide a continuous display of the Earth’s surface from satellite Resurs-DK1, Monitor-E satellite, Meteor-M1, Okean-O (number 1), Resurs-O (number 2,3, 4), as well as a number of foreign satellites.
The cost of creating Geoportal Space Agency is reported to be more than 10 million rubles. It was created in cooperation with the RCC Institute of Precision Instruments.
