Satellite Shootdown Analysis

by Matt Ball on April 9, 2008

The Center for Space Standards and Innovation (CSSI), a research division of Analytical Graphics, Inc., has put together a detailed analysis that tracks the debris from the shootdown of the disabled U.S. spy satellite USA 193. The detailed analysis concludes that the debris was only a threat to low-earth orbiting satellites for 90 days, compared to the hundred-year debris problem created by the Chinese ASAT satellite takedown.

You can view the detailed analysis and images on this website.
