The Forestry Commission England has launched a free iPhone app to to help the public find their local woodland, download handy trail maps or identify trees. The application also tracks events, provides details about each woodland such as hours and activities, and provides directions.
The common tree identifier helps users to identify the trees by their bark, seed or leaf. Visitors can download trail maps in PDF format so they can be used when out of cell phone range.
