Update on India’s Bhuvan Variant to Google Earth

There was much press this fall when India announced that they were developing their own version of Google Earth. The site that is in development is called Bhuvan, Sanskrit for Earth, and is meant to be a web portal to the Indian Space Research Organization’s (ISRO) imagery from their seven remote-sensing satellites, along with other map data. Today there’s a post on LiveMint.com with updates on the progress of this effort. When the site was announced it was said to be operational this month, but it appears that development will be ongoing.
