Ushahidi Adds Checkins for Crowdmap

by Matt Ball on January 3, 2011

The popular crowdsourcing application Ushahidi has just added the ability for checkins such as in the popular sites Foursquare and Gowalla. The capability, which is available for the web portal and mobile applications, gives users of Ushahidi and Crowdmap.com a means to drop location points quickly and easily.

The focus here is on creating location points that you may want to annotate later, such as breadcrumbs or points of interest that you may want to return to. The advantage over other checkin sites is the ability to create and share these points with your own groups or individuals rather than a much broader general user base.

Read more about these new capabilities on the Ushahidi blog.
