World Resources Institute Seeks RS/GIS Analyst for Forest Landscape Initiative

by Matt Ball on March 25, 2010

I ran across a job posting today for an RS/GIS Analyst at the World Resources Institute to use satellite imagery to assess deforestation, forest degradation, and forest development occurring in Central Africa, Indonesia, and other tropical forest countries. The job involves the assessment of carbon stocks and the tracking of forest development and change over time. The work will involve collaboration with partner NGOs and government agencies, and includes occasional travel to Central Africa and other countries for periods of several weeks to a month.

Sounds like an ideal position at a well-respected organization for a mission-oriented technologist that aims to have an impact on the stewardship of our planet. One potential sticking point is the requirement for fluency in French, both spoken and written.
