Largest congress for geodesy, geoinformation and land management / latest trends in location-based information for many industries / high-calibre congress programme, registration and early booking prices from June 1 at www.intergeo.de

The brand new congress programme for INTERGEO from September 25 to 27, 2007 at the Leipzig Exhibition Centre once more demonstrates the high technical standards, topicality, internationality and variety of information on offer at the world's leading congress trade fair for geodesy, geoinformation and land management. "The issues addressed by the specialist conference extend far beyond conventional surveying and cartography. The demand for location-based information is growing continuously in modern society and has now become one of the most important fields of activity in the surveying industry. A considerable number of the talks and exhibits will therefore once again focus on the latest technologies, GIS solutions, and tools and processes for GIS data capture," says Dr. Gernod Schindler, Congress Director of INTERGEO in Leipzig. Interested parties can register at www.intergeo.de from June 1. Early congress bookers will receive attractive special prices up to and including August 12. For the second time, INTERGEO’s mobile concept will ensure an intensive stopover in the new German federal states. INTERGEO is being jointly organised for the first time by two regional associations of the German Society for Geodesy, Geoinformation and Land Management (DVW). The Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt regional associations will be responsible for the three-day programme in Leipzig. "This year too, the INTERGEO congress programme should prove a real highlight on the geodetic calendar, demonstrating the internationality of the profession and addressing the latest practical and development issues. In a total of 19 blocks of talks, the majority of which run in two parallel series, issues ranging from planning and data capture to presentation and evaluation of location-based data will be explored and presented by famous speakers," says Prof. Heinz Runne, responsible for the specialist programme.

The forum for international surveying will define the demands being made on professional colleagues working in the international arena, present the latest work by the International Geodetic Service (IGS) and report on projects relating to monitoring measurements for mining in the Czech Republic. Excursion highlights will certainly include visits to the following flagship projects: relocation of Porsche, erection of the North Leipzig cargo transport centre, expansion of Leipzig/Halle Airport, Leipzig City Tunnel, new Leipzig University campus building and the further development of the Leuna chemical site. In parallel, the "Geodata Infrastructure I" and "Use of Geodata" blocks of talks will offer insights into standardization plans and the application of location-based data beyond the boundaries of normal geodetic practice. On the second day of the congress, the emphasis will be on land use management and land division, complemented by the BDVI Forum. The experts will focus on the development of rural spaces, urban renewal and real-estate management. As well as issues relating to photogrammetry and remote sensing, the second series of talks will look at kinematics and the control of machines in which geodetic sensors and methods are increasingly being adapted. "Trends in GIS" and "3D city models" will explore the latest developments in location-based data processing. On the final day, the congress will offer the younger generation of geodesists the opportunity to present their own projects. Schoolchildren from Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt are working on GIS-related projects for the "GIS in Schools" competition devised by DVW. The best projects will be showcased as part of the congress programme and will be awarded a prize by the DVW committee. Under the heading "Potential, areas of application and cost-effectiveness of terrestrial laser scanning", experts will look at extensive three-dimensional data capture and modelling. The latest developments in satellite-geodetic measuring processes and the use and provision of location-based services are further highlights of the final day. The Geodesy Forum, already a tradition at this event, will focus on the latest developments in the field of "higher geodesy".

INTERGEO Forum, Cartography Day and German Surveying Forum

At the INTERGEO Forum, exhibitors will use the opportunity to showcase their latest developments to expert visitors in a series of short talks, with a view to providing more in-depth information later in discussions at the trade fair stands. The visiting specialists can also take advantage of the 55th German Cartography Day running parallel to the INTERGEO Congress. The programmes of talks are well coordinated and complement each other, providing highly informative insights into geodetic and cartographic practice. New to the congress programme at INTERGEO 2007 is the German Surveying Forum, designed to be a joint closing event. In a major podium discussion, famous faces from the worlds of surveying, cartography and geoinformatics will discuss future training structures in the teaching professions and at universities and colleges.  INTERGEO 2007 will take place from September 25 – 27, 2007 in Leipzig. Further information is available at www.intergeo.de. Interested parties can also register online for the congress programme here from June 1.
